The building on the emblematic Plaza de Vitrato consists of offices, exhibition halls and an archive for the deputation of Zamora. The implementation of the building in its environment was the most important point of our proposal. The occupation of the plot, the volume and the spatial profile must respect the ensemble and the texture of the historical buildings that are making the square. The building has to be integrated in it while using the contemporary architectural language of the year 2000.

The patio is a temperature regulator (which is very appropriate for the extreme climate of Zamora) and as a light exchanger: daylight penetrates illuminating the inner spaces and in the night the artificial light of those spaces illuminates the square and marking the institutional character of the building.

The respect of the historical buildings that lead us in the conception of the building continued through the choice of materials to be used in the construction. Transparency and lightness confront opacity and heaviness. The materials of the enclosure are: wood, steel and glass, treated with the most advanced techniques of light and temperature control.
