Casa RL Sotogrande

Jorge Luis Borges, excerpt from the poem “Alhambra” (1976)

Andalusian-style residence, in permanent contact with vegetation, in Sotogrande, where the climate is conducive to beautiful and lush vegetation. Open house, with diaphanous spaces, made of perennial white brick, support for vegetation…

House for a family composed of a married couple and three daughters, with a service area, to enjoy all year round, especially during the summer period.

The house has a T-shape with the long side protecting the house from the west orientation. The short side is the main living room on the ground floor, located between the lemon tree patio and the main garden. On the upper floor, only the short side open to the views and south orientation is built.

The entrance opens on the ground floor to a large family space where the kitchen, dining room, living room, reading area and space for the piano coexist. The family living space is very flexible and adaptable to different scenarios over the years.

A laundry and drying area, a service bedroom and a multipurpose bedroom complete this area that has its own independence while functionally connecting to the rest of the house.

The daughters’ area overlooks the main garden, without compromising the privacy that the bedrooms and bathrooms must necessarily have.
